Where is the strangest place you have drunk an espresso? Friday, October 24 at 5.30 pm, TriestEspresso Expo trade event and machine manufacturer Gruppo Cimbali will serve an underground coffee, a coffee in a cave.

141009_grottagigante_bigAnd not just any cave, but the Grotta Gigante, one of Trieste’s main tourist attractions, the cave that opens into the largest single room in the world, a natural compartment made spectacular by its exceptional size and the fascinating stalactites and stalagmites.

TriestEspresso Expo visitors will be able to enjoy a visit to the Grotta Gigante made special not only by the environment, but also by an ‘underground’ coffee. In the depths of the cave, an E61 Faema coffee machine will be installed to serve the participants with an excellent espresso coffee to be enjoyed taking in the colourful and spectacular rock conformations.

The idea is just one part of the event’s attempt to involve the city and allow the visitors of the trade fair to discover its attractions, bringing together operators in the espresso coffee sector from all over the world. There will be also be guided tours of Trieste’s historical cafés: including Caffè Tommaseo where James Joyce met with the local writers and Caffè San Marco, which enjoys the patronage of the writer Claudio Magris to this day.
